Anger
“Preeti just calm down and listen to me carefully, you have had a miscarriage”, the doctor consoled her.
Preeti was still unconscious laying in the hospital bed.
It seemed that the gloomy room manifested her despair.
The whole family was grief-stricken.
Preeti with catechized eyes looked for her husband. She was not listening what her mother was saying, completely lost in her thoughts. She could not help but cry,for she wanted to be a mother, the mother of a cute lil baby.
“Don’t cry my doll, God will do better”,her mother assauged.
She could hear the people standing over there questioning about the incident.
“Shhhhh, everyone just leave the room,”ordered Preeti’s mum.
The only thing Preeti could remember was her husband clamouring,” Am I only this important for you ? You did not even iron mu clother for the party.Did I marry you just because you rest the whole day saying ,’I am pregnant ‘?”
Preeti could partially remember the reply she gave,”Ravi,I am not well. It feels like puking every time.I was just going to iron your clothes.”
And then suddenly Ravi smacked her off the floor.”You foolish lady. Were you taught to squabble with your husband?”,Ravi remarked.
He was boiling with rage, anger had taken control of him completely.
He did not even bothered to notice that Preeti was lying on the floor, howling for help.
With the flash of things ,that happened four hours back in her mind, her eyes closed.
Her hand reached towards her tummy and she murmured,”Dear baby, I am sorry.I am really sorry. For I could not save you from the devastating anger of your father.I could not be a good mother. For I could not protect you from the devilish side the society wants men to portray. It’s not that he is bad.I know he is just outside the room crying, for he is not allowed to cry in front of a woman. He is crying ’cause he believes he killed you.
Oh Baby, I am sorry.Your dad’s anger became your murderer.’
